Dr. Catherine S. Salum, Ed.D, NCSP

Dr. Catherine Salum is a bilingual and licensed school psychologist who can help you better understand how to optimize your child’s learning and developmental environment. She utilizes her training and experience as a school psychologist, Lecturer at the University of Miami, and former teacher to create a positive testing environment and provide you with a holistic action plan. She will work with you and your child’s school to ensure that the major educational influencers in their life are working in harmony.

Dr. Salum’s diverse education and work experience in two of the country’s largest school districts uniquely positions her to help you achieve success for your child. She received her doctorate in Special Education at Florida International University and her masters (MSE) and specialist (P.D.) degrees in Educational and School Psychology at Fordham University in New York City. Her research interests lie in executive functioning in students with SLD and ADHD, a topic she presented on at the National Association for School Psychologist (NASP) Conference.

During her time in New York, Dr. Salum also worked at the Kennedy Child Study Center as well as the Rosa A. Haggan Testing Center at Fordham University. After her tenure in New York City, Catherine returned to Miami, where she began working as a school psychologist with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS). In this role, she completed a wide variety of psycho-educational assessments, conducted behavior and play therapy, and worked extensively with parents, teachers, and administrators to provide students with the right environment, interventions, and accommodations to fit their needs.

Prior to becoming a school psychologist, Dr. Salum received her undergraduate degree in early childhood education and worked as a teacher at Sunset Elementary School, where she taught students with a broad range of needs, including learning disabilities, autism, intellectual disability, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, behavior difficulties, and gifted abilities.

Dr. Salum is married and has two children. During her free time she enjoys reading, exercising, and traveling with her family.
